The Federal Response to Emergencies and Disasters - How Disability Fits

"The Federal Response to Emergencies and Disasters Webinar" – is the next session in the "Emergency Management and Preparedness - Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities Webinar Series" and was held on August 22nd, 2012.

Federal response to emergencies since Hurricane Katrina has evolved, particularly in regards to people with disabilities. In the first of a series of webinars on emergency management, this session hosted by the Pacific ADA Center will present federal representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Department of Justice to discuss how the federal government is involved in emergencies from the point of view of people with disabilities. A review of the laws that involve emergency management and people with disabilities will be covered. A discussion of how FEMA works in relation to emergencies will follow including real-world examples from Regional Disability Integration Specialists from FEMA from this past year of significant disasters.
